Start Before You Can Name What’s Wrong
Something’s off, and the words for it haven’t shown up yet.
You’ve handled it the way you handle everything: without saying a word to anyone.
Underneath most of it, there’s something that happened to you, recent or long past.
A tidy explanation isn’t the price of admission. Bring what you have.
Before Any Method, I Find Out What You Can Handle
I’m gauging what’s going to be right for you, and what you have the capacity to do right now.
That assessment shapes everything that follows, which is why I’m not just pushing modalities.
When what would serve you best sits outside my lane, I say so: sometimes that’s psychiatry, sometimes a clinical herbalist for the people who’d rather not go the Western medicine route.
Effort was never the missing piece.
You Get the Tool That Matches the Moment
Some of what runs your life now was learned in rooms you left long ago.
What happens between you and me in session brings those patterns into the open, where we can finally look at them straight on.
Other times the trouble is a chain running from thought to feeling to behavior, moving too fast for you to catch the links.
We slow it down until you can.
You’ll Leave Every Session Knowing What to Do Next
When a part of you learned to handle things a certain way under pressure, we work with that part directly instead of arguing with it.
When talking has taken you as far as talking can, we go somatic: breathing, tensing and releasing one muscle group at a time until your body remembers what off feels like.
We’re a team in this.
I’ll teach you what to do between our sessions so that what changes here keeps changing after you close the laptop.
Aim Higher Than Getting Through the Day
Most people arrive hoping to manage what’s happening to them.
Thirty years of practice and a doctorate spent studying recovery itself have left me sure of one thing.
We can get better.
That’s the work I do with adults across California, by video and in person when that fits better.
Send Me a Note and Let’s Find Out What Fits
The consultation is free, and it’s there so you can find out whether I’m the right person for this before you commit to anything.
Reach out through my Psychology Today listing or write to me directly at Lcphd@hushmail.com.
If you call, leave me a voicemail, since my phone won’t put a call through without one.
Tell me what’s been happening, and I’ll tell you plainly what I’d suggest and why.
